A Record Shattering Summer
Why does your team give and give to us and expect nothing in return? There is something in your hearts that comes out to us and we want to know what it is.
After holding a joint practice with the Togo National team, their coaches wanted to know more about the Athletes in Action Basketball team and the Jesus they spoke of. As the AIA team was preparing to leave, the Togo national team visited the AIA hotel. The players from both teams gathered in one room and by 1:30 a.m., as the team packed up to leave, many of the Togo players had made decisions to become followers of Jesus Christ.
This was just one story from this record shattering summer. AIA basketball teams sent 15 competing teams around the globe and 8 Clinic teams to share the message of spiritual victory in Jesus Christ.
Some of the other highlights included:
- where terrorists in Russia held thousands of people hostage in a gymnasium in 2004, a basketball clinic was held.
- In Kenya basketball hoops were raised
- In Mali shoes were given to the shoeless
- Two Athletes in Action Basketball staff served as chaplins for the USA "Redeem Team" and the women's basketball Olympic teams
