Kyrgyzstan

Dates: March 15th to March 28th

Level: DII

We would like to invite you on an adventure like no other.  Travel to a place where few Americans ever go.  Kyrgyzstan is in the heart of what is called Central Asia.  It is a country of rich traditions and long history.  The people of Krygyzstan are worship warriors.  Genghis Khan is the man in Central Asia.  Our desire is to go and tell them about the greatest warrior who ever lived, so great that He conquered death itself.  For 15 years AIA has taken teams to this part of the world.  It is not an easy place to go.  The conditions will be spartan-like, but that only makes the experience that much greater.  The people there are wonderful and like so much to engage Americans.  We will play in a six team tournament.  As of now teams from Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan as well as Kyrgyzstan are suppose to participate.  Things change quickly in Central Asia and so I would hold this lineup loosely.
 

Guatemala/Belize

Dates:  June 13th to July 4th

Level:  D3/NAIA

This team will have the opportunity to impact athletes at the highest levels of Guatemalan basketball as well as teach in numerous clinics. We will also have the opportunity to pioneer in developing the Athletes in Action ministry in Belize.

Colombia

Dates: May 27th to June 15th

Level: DII

Athletes in Action will be sending a Men’s basketball team to the nation of Colombia.  This team will compete at the highest levels of Colombian basketball.  Our team will expose many to the Gospel and help accelerate the growing Athletes in Action ministry.

East Asia

Date: May / June

Level: DII

Come help establish a developing sports ministry in one of the world’s most significant cities.   You will learn the Athletes in Action Principles and have a chance to apply them against top university competition.  The sites you see will be amazing but a greater reward will be what you learn from another culture.    

Israel

Dates: June - August

 Level: DII/DIII

Real adventure is beginning a journey without having all the details figured out.  This project involves this aspect of adventure, 2-3 months from June-August in Israel.  You will be placed on one of 12 professional teams for the summer.  We are sponsoring the league and using it as an outreach tool into the larger community.  This platform allows into the hearts of teammates and into the lives of the community to share the reality of Jesus in our lives.  Relationships are the key in this culture to make Jesus relevant.  We will also spend our discipleship time visiting the places where Jesus walked and gaining His perspective of what it means to follow Him.  We will also partner with local churches in outreach projects.   You will come home having been trained in what it means to live the life of an overseas basketball missionary.  We desire to launch you out into the world knowing what you are getting yourself into and how to face the challenges ahead in serving Jesus through basketball and beyond.
